2PM

I first got into 2PM through ‘Heartbeat’ because one of my friends showed me a LIVE performance of Heartbeat, and it was the one where Taecyeon basically rips off his shirt and reveals his delicious looking abs. Let’s just say that I like abs. A LOT. So any guy that has delicious looking abs definitely deserves my full attention. And so, that brings me to 2PM. Taecyeon was initially my bias, mostly because I didn’t really know anyone else, but then came Junsu (who I mistakenly thought was Rain at first), Wooyoung, and Nichkhun. Boy are those 4 good looking men.

The group’s acrobatics really caught my attention as no other K-pop group does this. Their flips and pyramids and whatnot really made me interested, and I started looking up more of this group. I have to admit that I wasn’t really interested in 2PM because of their Heartbeat hairstyles. They reminded me of onions :/ But anyways, I started looking up their past videos and searching up their variety shows (something I do with every new group I stumble upon), and I loved them.

2PM is a group that will make you laugh genuinely. They are warm, kind, and seriously funny with their childish pranks and kiddie personalities. You can’t help but feel happy around 2PM. Their close friendship tells you that they are a family, and no matter what, nothing can break that bond. They play with each other, laugh with each other, and cry with each other. Undoubtedly they probably tell each other stuff that they have never told their own parents about. Every member is special in 2PM and even if Jay is gone, he still has a place there. Whose to say that they won’t get together and collaborate on a song together? (God I wish that would happen with TVXQ & JYJ). My point is that in 2PM, no member is left out. Everyone is together with everyone.

4-MINUTE

I like 4-Minute pretty okay. I started noticing them after I got into B2ST, because I saw that B2ST was in 4-Minute’s ‘HUH’ song, and Junhyung was in one of Hyunah’s songs. The 1st 4-minute song I listened to was ‘I My Me Mine’ and I really liked that song. A very catchy song with its ‘Click click click click, Re-re-re-re-replay…’ I was tempted to set it as my phone’s ringtone, hahaha.

4-Minute kind of shifts on my likeness scale a bit. I like half of their songs, but the other half is kind of like ‘Meh’ to me. I did check out their latest MV, ‘Volume Up’ and I must say that I like it alot. A very nice and fresh concept coming from them, and it’s a nice change from their previous concepts.

Their members are all equally talented in their own individual aspects, though I do wish that Jihoon would get noticed more. The maknae is so cute with her chubby cheeks. Main vocal is awesome with her voice. A very nice voice (I’m not sure why but her voice reminds me of people that sing opera o.O)

I’m not a big fan of how Hyunah is marketed as a sexy chick. Because of the image that CUBE set up for her, she’s often looked upon as a ‘slut’ because she does sexy and provocative dances while wearing dresses that look like they’re short enough to be t-shirts. I feel bad for her since this isn’t actually her true self yet she’s getting all this hate-crap from people who don’t take the time to actually get to know her. To be hated and insulted by people who don’t even know you is a terrible feeling, especially when they make sexual insults towards you. I kind of wish that CUBE would ease up on making her as this sex goddess, and focus more on her actual personality, and make her image as that.

As a group, 4-Minute stands out since they’ve gone with a mature lady concept instead of the traditional cutesy/aegyo concept that almost every other girl group does. They admittedly have had their cutesy moments, but at least it wasn’t in every single song they’ve done.

So, I like them :3

snsd

TBH, I loved SNSD when they came out with Gee and Genie. They were my favorite girl group out there. While the songs weren’t the greatest life-changing songs on earth, they were extremely catchy and I was quite happy to sing along to them like no other. (I actually know the entire dance to Gee). But then Taxi and Hoot came and all of a sudden their concept wasn’t cute or sexy but classy anymore. It just became sexy. I liked their original concept about being the fresh, new face of a younger, innocent and more pure generation. However, as time went along, they kind of skipped the maturing part and went straight from cute to sexy. It was really disconcerting and I didn’t like it at all. Then ‘The Boys’ came out. I’m sorry if this offends you, but I absolutely detested that song. IMO, that was the worst song that Girls’ Generation has ever done. It wasn’t catchy, the lyrics were really weird, and they rapped. GG does not rap. Should not rap. At all. AT ALL. Who do they think they are? CL? No. SNSD should not rap and will never be good at rapping unless they add in another member that’s a CL-clone. So no. That song was terrible. The beginning was alright, kind of catchy, but then the actual thing started and I could not even listen to 5 seconds of it before I went to B2ST for salvation.

I do like the members of SNSD. If I had to choose, I would say that my bias lies in between Sooyoung and Yuri. Both are insanely funny, and very good actresses (I think that they should have been given acting opportunities a loong time ago). Seohyun will forever be the cute, awkward maknae. Sunny will forever be the wannabe maknae. Jessica will be the queen she is, and Taeyeon will be the kid leader like she has always been. Tiffany’s eye-wink-smile is something that I wish I could do, but have failed multiple times in attempt to do it. Hyoyeon’s dancing skills are 2nd place to Minzy’s, and they’re very good. She’s fantastic as dancing with the flow of the music, and that’s an aspect that I really like about her. Yoona is just kind of there. She’s the face of the group.

The main reason that I don’t especially like SNSD is because their music and concept change too often for me to actually like their music. Their fans are very rude, and I don’t really know why they pick fights with everyone. It’s as if they think that they’re above everyone else. I know that not all SONES act like this, but 90% of the SONES that I have interacted with have babied the group mistakes and refuse to let anyone say otherwise, and they will gang up on you like a pack of wolves if you say one bad thing about them.

SNSD = 6.5/10 (on my like scale)

SHINee

They are one of the most talented groups alive in the K-pop industry. Everything they do pretty much screams ‘Perfect’ at you. Their vocals in their LIVE performances are 99.99999999999% spot on, and it sounds fantastic and like the studio version, which is hella good, in my opinion. Their dances are awesome, and I always seem to fail at learning them TT.TT (cough cough Lucifer)

I loved SHINee the moment I heard their music. I guess that’s why they’re the ‘Gateway to K-pop’. I heard ‘Replay’ in the Japanese version and their cute, preppy clothing, along with their ridiculously nice vocals pulled me in right away. Taemin was SO CUTE with his prettier-than-a-girl’s face, and his SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICALLY AWESOME dance moves. I can only say, ‘What a talented maknae :3’

I immediately fell in love with Jonghyun’s vocals. He is a very talented artist, and he does not hold back at all when singing. Key has a very nice voice too, and is my 2nd favorite after Jonghyun’s. Onew’s voice, while may not sound very spectacular like Jonghyun, is still very special, and he is tied with Key for 2nd place. IMO, Onew’s voice is very stable, and I feel that without his voice, SHINee would not be the same at all. He has a very distinctive voice, but unlike Jonghyun, he doesn’t blast out his vocals, instead being the most stable one in the group. Plus, he loves chicken. Who doesn’t like a guy who loves chicken? Nobody, that’s who.

Taemin is uber-talented in dancing and I would like to take lessons from him one day. He gives off a very quiet and shy impression, which is probably why when he was half-naked for Sherlock promotions, I felt like I was a pedophile or something when I looked at his pictures. It felt…wrong. He reminds me of a little angel, and it’s a very lovely image. Minho is cute. Very cute. His voice is a very nice-sounding deep voice that doesn’t really match with his baby face at all. Minho didn’t really interest me until Hello Baby, and hell, I loved him in that show. He was absolutely adorable with Yoogeun (also the most adorable baby every), and I really wanted someone like him as my future husband. I do wish that he had more parts to sing/rap in the group though. He seems to be one that has the least parts, and when he does have a part, it always seems to be either 2 seconds long, or overshadowed by the other members’ singing (Replay and Hello Hello).

I don’t have a bias in SHINee because it’s too hard to choose one.

exo

EXO hasn’t really been out that long (they debuted like what, 23 hours ago?) But I’m leaning towards, ‘I like them’.

The members are absolutely gorgeous, most of them all have talent that have been displayed through their debut showcase. I think that they have the potential to grow, and to grow big in the K-pop industry.

I’m still neutral on having the 2 groups being promoted apart, and not as one. EXO reminds me a little bit of Super Junior and their subgroups, but Super Junior started out as one group while EXO started out as 2. Their whole concept of being from another planet reminds me of B.A.P. except their concept is a little bit fancier(?) than B.A.P’s concept.

I feel like Kai is the male ‘Yoona’ of the group, except he actually has talent—dancing. (Other than being a CF queen, I honestly do not think that Yoona has any other talents. She has a pretty enough face, but she’s an average dancer and singer in my opinion.)

I feel a bit sorry for Kai since he’s being marketed so much, and since he has so many parts in every single song. Other members need to have more parts because so far, I only see Luhan, Tao, D.O., Baekhyun, and Suho singing. Everyone else is kind of just there…like the only reason they’re part of the group is so that they support the main leads. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that the main/lead vocals were established so quickly. I just feel that they need to have more members sing the songs.

When I first saw their music video for ‘What is Love’ I did not like EXO. They didn’t really have any expression in their eyes except for Baekhyun, and even he didn’t really have any expression. Their eyes didn’t really communicate or move me, it was kind of like they were just staring at me (cough cough D.O). I have to say that I was much more impressed when they came out with ‘History’ because I could actually feel the message they were trying to convey through their eyes. Add in the fact that their faces weren’t set in stone like it was in the ‘What is Love’ MV and that the dance sequence was pretty awesome (pocket-change dance and the turtle neck dance, as I call it) and that made me like them more.

My bias in EXO-K are Sehun, Baekhyun, Suho, and Chanyeol. EXO-M  has Luhan, Tao, and Xiumin (he reminds me of a chipmunk >.<)

I ship HunHan. They were made for each other. JS <3

ukiss

I’ll be honest. U-Kiss didn’t really interest me until their Neverland (or was it 0330?) promotions. I had no idea about them until Neverland, and I liked the beat and the sound of it. Add in the fact that Kevin looked ridiculously cute and he could sing like no other, AND he was fluent in English, I was ready to hop on and start singing ‘Never en-en-en….’ and doing those slapping hand motions they do when they sing that chorus part. I saw that some KissMe’s posted on YT that they should get ‘0330’ to 1 million views, and I checked the video out, and I thought that it was a very nice song. (I actually listen to it at night when I go to sleep). Very nice and soothing song. Didn’t really get the plot until eatyourkimchi came along.

But anyways, I started searching up more about U-Kiss, and found out about their member change, and I started watching their variety shows. I watched Chef’s Kiss and Vampire Kiss. Two very nice, very witty shows. I enjoyed Elvin’s nice coupl-yness because it was cute, and maknae’s ego was very funny.

U-Kiss is a group that would make great parents. They’re very witty and kind, and I feel that they’re one of the most underrated K-pop groups out there. If people would spend 3 minutes on them, I’m sure that they would grow to like them as I have.

P.S. I ship Jaelvin. <3
